Description
The Springfield Study investigated the potential consolidation of all or a portion of the following rail corridors (all located in Springfield, Illinois): the Union Pacific Railroad tracks along Third Street; the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks on Tenth Street; the Illinois & Midland Railroad tracks near 15th Street North of Grand Avenue; the right of way and tracks required to carry the Union Pacific Railroad?s expanded freight operations and high speed rail trains, extending from 500 feet north of Sangamon Avenue on the north to 1,000 feet north of Stanford Avenue on the South; and, the Canadian National Railroad tracks adjacent to 19th Street, extending from the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing at Starnes on the north to the Airline connection on the south.
