Government Act No. 58 (1991) established the continued existence of the MRC, stating that “the objects of the MRC are, through research, development and technology transfer, to promote the improvement of the health and the quality of life of the population of the Republic and to perform such other functions as may be assigned to the MRC by or under this Act.” The NDoH has identified the MRC as the organization to provide substantive research toward combatting the epidemics affecting the country’s health.

Description
The purpose of this FOA is to provide support to MRC in contributing to the NDOH’s four Health Pillars which include the following:
• Increasing life expectancy
• Decreasing maternal and child mortality
• Combating HIV and AIDS and decreasing the burden of disease from tuberculosis, and
• Strengthening health system effectiveness.
