We will be able to develop a more efficient process for reviewing grant applications if we are aware of the number of applicants that intend to apply for funding under this competition. The Secretary requests that this e-mail be sent to striving.readers.comprehensive.literacy@ed.gov with ``Intent to Apply'' in the e-mail subject line. Purpose of Program: The purpose of the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy grant program (SRCL) is to advance literacy skills--including pre-literacy skills, reading, and writing--for students from birth through grade 12, including limited-English-proficient students and students with disabilities. Through this program, the Department will award competitive grants to State educational agencies (SEAs) to support competitive subgrants to local educational agencies (LEAs), including charter schools that are considered LEAs under State law, or other eligible entities for the purpose of advancing literacy skills. Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Number: 84.371C. Applications for grants under the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy Grant program, CFDA number 84.371C, must be submitted electronically using the Governmentwide Grants.gov Apply site at http://www.Grants.gov.
