Create a Workspace to Apply
Creating a workspace opens an online space where you can collaborate on individual application forms with team members. The following instructions explain how to create a workspace in the Package tab of View Grant Opportunity page for a specific funding opportunity.
Only a user with the Manage Workspace role can create a workspace. Upon creating a workspace, the user inherits the Workspace Owner access level, which permits the user to add other users (i.e., Workspace Participants) to that workspace. Option 1: Apply Now Using Workspace (Recommended)
Creating a workspace is where you begin the process of completing a grant application on Grants.gov. Click the Create Workspace button to begin. The application instructions available after creating a workspace as well as through the Preview link.
Note: If you are not currently logged in, you will see a button that reads Login to Apply Now.
How to Create a Workspace
Login to your Grants.gov account.
Note: Only users with the Manage Workspace role can create a workspace.
Search for the grant opportunity for which you want to create a workspace. Refer to the Search Grants help article for instructions on using the Search Grants tab.
Click the funding opportunity number link in the Funding Opportunity Number column.
Click the Apply link in the Actions column.
Note: If you do not log in before locating the grant opportunity, you will be routed to log in before you can continue.
Click the Create Workspace button.
Select whether to create a new instance of a workspace or to copy another workspace to create a new instance of workspace for this funding opportunity. Using the copy function will help you save time by re-using forms already completed in another workspace.
To create a new workspace, enter a descriptive title for this workspace in the Application Filing Name field. Make sure the title you enter will help you distinguish this workspace from other grant applications you are working on in Grants.gov.
Click the Create Workspace button to complete the creation process or click the Cancel button to end the process.
After creating a workspace, the user is taken to the Manage Workspace page in Grants.gov. For more information on using Workspace, review the Manage Workspaces and Manage Applicants help articles. Also note that creating a workspace is an action that will be recorded in the Activity Tab as "Created."
Option 2: Download Instructions and Package (Not Recommended)
CAUTION: The legacy PDF application package will be retired December 31, 2017. Grants.gov recommends applying with Workspace now.
Before the legacy application PDF package is phased out, you may use the Download Instructions and Download Package buttons to begin the application process. For more information, refer to the Legacy PDF Application Package Instructions [Retiring 2017] help article.
Download Instructions and Go to Agency Multi-Project System
For multi-project packages, only the Download Instructions and Go to Agency Multi-Project System buttons are displayed. Multi-project applications are completed on the grant-making agency's website, rather than on Grants.gov.
